We would like to cordially invite Pre-School principals and supervisors to the
First Pre-School Environmental Education Advisor (EEA) Workshop on:
Date/ Time: 30 September 2005 (Friday) at 1:45 PM - 5:30 PM

Level 25 MEWR Hall
This workshop is organized to help build a strong rapport and camaraderie between NEA and the newly appointed pre-school EEAs. After attending this workshop, an EEA will be equipped with general knowledge on environmental issues, which can assist them in injecting environmental elements as part of the learning activities for the pre-schoolers.
Various environmental education activities help in children's character development as they learn to appreciate the world around them. Environmental activities can also encourage their creativity and at this young age, they will be able to learn and understand faster.

Recycling Day 2005 will be held on 17 Sep 05 at Dunman Seconday School. This year we have exciting competitions happening prior to and on Recycling Day itself. The 2 build-up competitions your school can participate in are the i) Speech Writing Competition; ii) Game Booth Design Competition

Clean and Green Week 2005 Schools Carnival Build Up Activities
The annual Schools Carnival, held in conjunction with the Clean & Green Week (CGW), is a national platform to showcase environmental activities/programmes designed by school students of all levels. It allows students to think and work creatively on environmental related activities. This year, CGW 2005 Schools Carnival will be held on 15 & 16 November at the Singapore Convention Centre in Suntec City. We strongly encourage your schools to participate in the carnival.
In celebration of this year Schools Carnival, NEA is organising several build-up activities for school students to participate. They are as follows:
1) The Environmental Song & Dance Competition (Entry form)
- For Primary, Secondary and Open Categories
2) The Environmental Fashion Show Competition (Entry form)
- For Secondary, Junior Colleges and Open Categories
3) The Environmental Fashion Show Mentorship
- For Secondary and Junior Colleges
(finalists in the Fashion Show Compeition will be mentored by Temasek Polytechnic)
The objective of these build-up activities is to raise awareness on 'Environmental Ownership' and cultivate a socially responsible student who cares for the environment. The build-up activities are targeting at the students from the pre-schools to the tertiary institutions.
Come show your school's commitment, involvement, support and enthusiasm in caring for the environment!
WORLD METEOROLOGICAL DAY EXHIBITION / SEMINAR
Date: 24th March 2005
Time: 11am - 8pm - Exhibition
3pm - 5pm - Seminar
Venue: Geylang East Library
The exhibition and seminar at the Geylang East Library is held in conjunction with the World Meteorological Day. In light of the Kyoto Protocol recently coming into force, the event will focus on climate change. Starting from 11am, the event will feature exciting and interactive displays, exhibits, games and experiments. The three seminar speakers will each present their take on climate change and Singapore's weather. Due to limited seats, registration is required for the seminar, which will run from 3pm till 5 pm on 24th March 2005. SUSTAINABILITY ACCELERATOR TRAINING WORKSHOP FOR
YOUTH ENVIRONMENTAL ENVOYS
Date: Run 1: 15-17 March 2005
Run 2: 18-20 March 2005
Time: 8.30am - 5.30pm
For: Junior College students
Expected Outcomes:
Youth Environment Envoys are better able to understand sustainable development issues with regards to the Singapore context and are more committed to the goal of sustainable development in their institutional and personal capacities. Students will gain enhanced understanding of the concept of sustainability and an ability to analyse how it is occurring, and how it can be accelerated in practical ways in Singapore. Suitable projects will be offered to engage Youth Environmental Envoys to apply their knowledge from the workshop.
