About Us

Environmental Health Institute (EHI) is a public health laboratory at the National Environment Agency (NEA) that conducts research, surveillance and evidence-based risk assessment on vector-borne diseases and other environment-related infectious diseases.

 

As a unit under EHI, EHI Diagnostics is the product of applied research and aims to provide non-profit inexpensive diagnostic services to the general public as well as a gateway for disease surveillance in Singapore.

 

Our Services

We offer a range of diagnostic tests that are aimed at providing laboratory support to medical practitioners with the eventual aim of an accurate diagnosis of vector-borne infectious diseases.

 

Our premises are fully registered by the Ministry of Health and comply with their requirements as a diagnostic laboratory. EHI Diagnostics also participates in External Quality Assurance Programme offered by the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (RCPA) for Flavivirus and Alphavirus and Malaria Proficiency testing conducted by Ministry of Health, Singapore.

 

Standard Tests

· Dengue RT-PCR

· Chikungunya RT-PCR

· Dengue IgM/IgG

·   Dengue NS1 Antigen

· Chikungunya IgM/IgG

·   Malaria RT-PCR

 

Additional Tests

· Neutralisation Assay – Dengue

· Neutralisation Assay – Chikungunya

·  Neutralisation Assay - Yellow Fever

·   Rickettsia IgM/IgG

·   Yellow Fever RT-PCR

·   Japanese Encephalitis PCR

           

           

For Standard services, results will be available within 2 working days upon receipt of samples. 

 

PCR should be ordered if sample is collected within 5 days of fever onset, whereas IgM and/or IgG test(s) should be ordered for samples collected on/or after 5 days of fever onset. For confirmatory of acute infection, IgG tests must be done on paired samples collected at least 14 days apart.

 

For additional services, results will be available within 10 working days upon receipt of samples.
