Environmental Health Institute
Mission
Research, surveillance and risk assessment on vector-borne diseases and other environment-related infectious diseases
Welcome to the Environmental Health Institute (EHI). Officially launched on 25th April 2002, EHI is a public health laboratory at the National Environment Agency (NEA). EHI conducts research, surveillance and evidence-based risk assessment on infectious diseases of environmental concerns. The key thrust of the centre is to acquire knowledge and to develop advance and cost effective tools and strategies to support public health operations and policies.
EHI's research areas include vector-borne diseases (e.g. dengue, chikungunya, malaria and hanta virus infection) and other issues of environmental concern (e.g. indoor air quality, legionellosis and fungus infestation). Through studying the vector, virus, disease hosts and environmental factors, an amalgamated approach is taken to pursue new knowledge and technologies.
EHI's research programme is categorized into:
- Vector-borne Diseases
- Environmental Hygiene
- Food Hygiene
