Introduction to the Envronment Club Fund
We are pleased to announce that the Environment Club Fund (ECF) is once again open for applications for activities in the year 2011! The fund provides designated sums of financial grants to encourage all MOE Primary and Secondary schools, Junior Colleges, Centralised Institutes, Vocational Centres and Institutes of Technical Education with Environment Clubs (otherwise known as 'Green Clubs') or Associate Environment Clubs (includes Science Clubs, Geography Clubs, etc.) to conduct at least 2 environment-related activities and events within their schools and the community.
MOE Primary and Secondary schools, Junior Colleges, Centralised Institutes, Vocational Centres and Institutes of Technical Education with Environment Clubs (E-Clubs)
Primary Schools will be given a grant from $500-$1000 each, while the Secondary schools, Junior Colleges, Centralised Institutes, Vocational Centres and Institutes of Technical Education from $1,000-$1,500 each.
- Required to complete at least 2 environmental activities/ events, of which
one should be a school-wide activity/ event.
- Schools are to send in their annual workplans for their proposed environmental events/ activities in order to be given the 50% upfront grant.
- 50% of the grant will be given upfront to each school, upon the NEA's receipt of their proposal/ workplan of activities/ events
- Required to submit a short report describing the activities/ events carried out to us within 1 month upon their completion (in which you may also include photos of the activities/ events).
- The 50% balance of the grant will be given to the school after NEA's receipt of the project report.
MOE Primary and Secondary schools, Junior Colleges, Centralised Institutes, Vocational Centres and Institutes of Technical Education with Associate Environment Clubs (AECs) Only
Geography Clubs, Science Clubs, etc. which conduct environmental activities/ events are considered 'AECs' by the NEA, and will qualify to apply for funding for their proposed projects, subject to the following conditions. As a measure to avoid double counting, the NEA will not fund a school's AEC(s) if it already has an E-Club.
- Schools are to send in their individual applications for their proposed environmental events/activities, subject to NEA's approval
- Maximum grant of $250 per approved events/activities, subject to a cap of 2 approved events/activities for the year, i.e. maximum grant of $500 to each school with AECs per year.
- Required to submit a short report on the 2 activities/ events to us within 1 month upon their completion (in which you may also wish to include photos of the activities/ events).
- Disbursement of the grant will be made only after the activities have been completed and the completion report has been sent to the NEA.
The NEA hopes to encourage schools to take the opportunity to set up Environment Clubs and to efficiently tap on these funds to cultivate a more proenvironment spirit amongst their student communities and generate new generations of environmentally conscious Singaporeans.
