The institute is a research arm of the National Environment Agency (NEA) and is devoted to research, surveillance and risk assessment of vector-borne and food-borne pathogens, and other environment-related diseases.

EHI’s research programme contributes to the integrated evidence-based Public Health Programme in Singapore. The successful programme is facilitated by excellent teamwork and fruitful interactions with fellow researchers, operational officers and policy makers. SENIOR RESEARCH OFFICER (CONTRACT 8 MONTHS)

The successful candidate will be involved in the research and surveillance of vectors. Research outcome is expected to contribute to the vector control programme in Singapore.

Requirements:

·        A Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Life Sciences, Biology or related disciplines

·        Experience and knowledge in the bionomics of vectors

·        Good command of the English language, as well as good presentation and writing skills

·        Proficiency in Microsoft Office, knowledge in statistics is desirable

SENIOR EXECUTIVE/ASST DIRECTOR, CORPORATE COMMUNICATIONS

As part of a dynamic team, you will conceptualise, manage and implement integrated marketing communications programmes to profile NEA and its diverse range of initiatives and/or programmes. You will also be involved in the active engagement of media to enhance NEA's reputation as the lead agency in improving and sustaining a clean and green environment.

To be considered for the position, you must meet the following pre-requisites:

  • A degree in Mass Communications
  • Minimum 3 years experience in corporate communications or marketing communications

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR (RESEARCH)

As an Assistant Director (Research) in NEA’s Research & Statistics Unit (RSU), you will seek to strengthen NEA’s policies and programmes by applying your professional and technical training to the field of environmental data and statistics. You will analyze and monitor environmental trends, conduct research and analyses in support of RSU’s mission, and manage the communication of the results of RSU’s research to policy-makers and the public.

Requirements:

 

  • At least a 2nd Lower Honours degree in Engineering, Economics, Statistics or relevant disciplines in the sciences
  • Candidates with at least 7 years of relevant working experience will be preferred.
  • Applicants with econometric skills for forecasting, policy modelling and scenario development; specialization and experience in environmental economics; or prior working experience in energy efficiency and climate change sciences will have an added advantage
  • Highly self-motivated with good interpersonal and communications skills
  • Applicants who are proficient with IT systems handling the management and analysis of data & statistics will be preferred
  • Adept at project management and coordination work, with an eye for details

You will be part of the Internal Audit Department that plans and performs financial, operational and compliance audits. Your roles are:

·        To formulate and develop internal audit work plan and programme to ensure that internal controls and checks on NEA’s activities and operations are in place.  In addition, to also evaluate adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls, identify audit issues and concerns, and make practical value-added recommendations on internal controls and business processes to the management.

·        To lead a team which will plan and perform financial, operational and compliance audits, and to oversee and manage the team in the implementation of the audit work plan to ensure that audit programmes are carried out effectively.

·        To conduct internal audit and compliance checks as per audit work plan as requested by management.

 

Requirements:

 

·        Degree in Accountancy or equivalent professional qualification (CPA and/or CIA would be advantageous)

·        At least 8 years of auditing experience in medium to large CPA firms and/or corporate IA departments

·        Sound understanding of internal control concepts, corporate governance and risk management issues

·        Strong analytical, report writing and interpersonal communication skills

·        Highly self-motivated, independent and able to work effectively in a team

·        Meticulous and have a keen eye for details

ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH EXECUTIVE (FWSU)

Food surveillance programmes include routine monitoring of the hygienic quality of ready-to-eat food sold at markets and food centres as well as carrying out risk assessment surveys on specific high risk food sold at the retail outlets to determine possible causes of food contamination.

 

You will be responsible for the following:

 

·       Carry out food sampling at retail premises for microbiological ,chemical and physical testing

·       Carry out water sampling from swimming pools, drinking taps, cooling towers and other water systems for microbiological and chemical testing

·       Design and conduct risk assessment surveys at retail eating establishments on specific high risk food to determine possible causes and sources of food contamination

·       To prepare database on the preparation and processing of high risk ready-to-eat food and identify critical control points

·       To assist to analyse food surveillance results

 

Requirements:

 

·        Bachelor Degree in Science/Food Science

·        Must be computer literate

·        Knowledge of Microsoft Office

ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH EXECUTIVE (OPS)

We are looking for highly motivated and dynamic individuals who will formulate, implement and enforce key environmental public health programmes and policies in pest (e.g. mosquitoes and rats) control, food hygiene and environmental cleanliness to upkeep Singapore's image of a clean and hygienic city. You will be part of the Food Hygiene operations team with the following duties:

 

·       Review and streamline operational procedures to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness in hygiene operations covering licensing, inspections, enforcement etc based on new/current policies

·       Overall monitoring of the regional offices’ licensing/inspections/enforcement operations

·       Planning and coordinating the implementation of new rules, regulations and processes to improve environmental hygiene standards

·       Working with the regional offices, stakeholders and other agencies to ensure smooth implementation

·       Planning, reviewing and administering operational policy and procedures to ensure that policies continue to remain relevant to achieve high standards of food and environment hygiene

 

Requirements:

 

  • A good degree, preferably with Honours in Microbiology, Science or Engineering
  • Relevant working experience in public health preferred

MANAGEMENT SUPPORT OFFICER (REVENUE & SYSTEM)

Working in the Revenue & System Section in Hawkers Department, you will carry out the following duties:

 

·       Monitor, track and provide inputs on arrears level and performance

·       Co-ordinate in-house debt recovery actions between managers and field officers

·       Liaise with finance and legal department and solicitors on recovery efforts

·       Prepare various reports on arrears, revenue control returns, ad-hoc reports
