Singapore, 22 May 2012 – The next tender exercise for hawker stalls in existing Government-managed hawker centres, organised monthly by the National Environment Agency (NEA), will take place from 24 May to 7 June. NEA’s monthly tender exercise is typically held from the 13th to 26th of each month.  The delay in May’s tender exercise to 24 May was to ensure that the single bids from both the March and April 2012 tender exercises could be included for immediate bidding this round.

Tender Process from May 2012

Under the new hawker policies announced at the Budget Debate in March 2012, all stalls that receive single bids for the first time in the May 2012 tender exercise will be included for re-tender in the June 2012 tender exercise. These stalls will be awarded to the highest bidders in the June 2012 tender exercise regardless of the number of bids received then, as long as there is at least one bid. This process of re-tender for single bids is to ensure fair allocation based on market interest.

March and April 2012 Tender Exercises

Stalls in the March or April tender exercises which had received single bids will likewise be awarded to the highest bidders in the May 2012 exercise regardless of the number of bids received then. Results of the March and April tender exercises will be posted on NEA’s website at http://www.nea.gov.sg and displayed on the notice board at NEA’s Customer Service Centre (CSC) located at 40 Scotts Road, #02-00, Environment Building.

Interested parties who wish to bid for a vacant hawker stall in existing hawker centres can view the details of the tender and the stalls available in the Straits Times, Lianhe Zaobao, Berita Harian and Tamil Murasu on 24 May 2012. The information will also be posted on NEA’s website at http://www.nea.gov.sg and displayed on the notice board at NEA’s Customer Service Centre (CSC) located at 40 Scotts Road, #02-00, Environment Building. Interested parties can purchase the tender form at the CSC during the period of tender.
