In association with the Ministry of Health and Environmental Health Department, the Epidemiology program seeks to understand the transmission dynamics of vector borne diseases such as dengue and Chikungunya. 

This is done through analysis of cases, population studies, blood analysis, vector studies, environmental parameters and genetic fingerprint of viruses. 

Advance technologies like the Geographical System and bioinformatics are employed for the analysis. Epidemiological knowledge gained has been used for developing and enhancing disease control strategies, particularly for dengue and Chikungunya.
