The institute carries out risk assessment and field surveys on issues pertaining to indoor air quality, fungus infestation and water-borne legionella in Singapore. This entails the investigation of public feedback on poor indoor air quality and providing advisories for improvement of indoor air quality.

Results from such studies help to guide legislative measures and development of Code of Practices that aim to minimize occurrence of sick building syndrome as well as legionaires’ disease.
