Government-Managed Columbaria

There are three government-managed columbaria in which niches are still available -
- Choa Chu Kang Columbarium
- Mandai Columbarium
- Yishun Columbarium

The National Environment Agency (NEA) will provide a free standard niche at any of the three government columbarium for each claimed grave that is exhumed.

Niches are no longer available for sale at Mount Vernon Columbarium but public can still visit the columbarium.

Choa Chu Kang Columbarium

Located along Choa Chu Kang Road, within the Choa Chu Kang Cemetery Complex, the Choa Chu Kang Columbarium houses some 147,000 niches spread over 18 four-storey blocks. It has a clean, quiet and beautifully landscaped environment, lifts that service every storey of the block and amenities that allow the elderly and disabled to move around the area easily.

The buildings span across the entire area like a Chinese fan, and are designed to achieve maximum natural cross-ventilation and natural skylight. The blocks of niches are named according to flowers and the entire architecture designed to emulate a park, giving one a relaxing and soothing feel.

Mandai Columbarium

Located within the Central Catchment Area, the Mandai Columbarium houses some 133,000 niches in 8 three-storey blocks.

Secluded but serene, the Mandai Columbarium is surrounded with natural greenery, which makes it a wonderful final resting place for one's beloved. From the upper storeys of the columbarium blocks, one can even view the blue Seletar Reservoir waters.

Yishun Columbarium

The Yishun Columbarium is conveniently located within the HDB heartland at Yishun Ring Road and is just a 10-minute walk away from the Yishun MRT Station.

The columbarium houses some 16,000 niches and has an architecture similar to a Chinese temple, which offers families a choice of a more traditional temple-like environment.

Mount Vernon Columbarium

At present there is no plan for the relocation of Mount Vernon Columbarium. When relocation is needed in the future, ample public announcements will be made. Next-of-kin will be informed of the details and given 2 years' advance notice

Next-of-kin who wish to relocate the urns to another government or private columbarium before the relocation exercise takes place may do so at their own expense by submitting the Application for Removal of Ashes.

The Mount Vernon Columbarium will be open daily from 7:00am to 5:30pm for the public to visit and pay respects to their deceased kin.
