Sarimbun Recycling Park - Wasteland Returns to Useful Life
Have you heard of the Sarimbun Recycling Park (SRP) in Singapore? It is located at the northern end of Lim Chu Kang Road on the north-western part of Singapore, and used to be part of a landfill site known as the Lim Chu Kang Dumping Ground.
Landfilling operation in the Lim Chu Kang Dumping Ground began in 1976 and was closed in Sep 1992. The land will require 30-40 years to be stabilised before it can be utilised for more permanent developments.
The NEA has obtained approval to utilise part of the closed Lim Chu Kang Dumping Ground for recycling activities. The park was created to mark the NEA's effort to provide a boost to the waste recycling industry here whereby low cost land is made available for entrepreneurs to operate recycling facilities in Singapore.
