Disposal of Bulky Items and Garden Wastes
Private Housing Estates
(A) Bulky Items
(e.g. discarded table, chair, cupboard, mattress, micro-wave oven, gas cooker, refrigerator and washing machine)
You could contact the public waste collector serving your estate to arrange for the removal of your bulky item(s) for disposal. You will need to negotiate the rates with the public waste collector as the removal of bulky items is not included in the standard service provided by him.
Alternatively, you may engage any licensed waste collector (from the Yellow Pages under the heading 'Waste') for the service.
(B) Garden Wastes
(e.g. cut grass, leaves, branches)
Please put grass and leaves in plastic bags and tie the bags securely. Large branches which cannot be placed inside the plastic bag should be tied up in small bundles.
The plastic bags, together with the bundles of branches should be placed beside the bin in front of your house in the morning for collection by the public waste collector.
You are advised to bring out 1 or 2 bags of garden waste a day for collection and keep the rest inside your compound for the following days. Please note that if you put out too many bags of garden waste or bundles of branches the public waste collector may not remove all of them in one day as this will affect his ability to collect the household refuse from the rest of the homes down the street.
